HELLP consultant trainers, located nationwide, deliver onsite training and mentoring to participating programs. Consultant trainers are active members in the project’s HELLP community and provide input to the project staff.

Cathie Jo Holleran
|
 |
Cathie Jo is an early childhood specialist focusing on early literacy, language development and second language learners. She is a private consultant who provides training, technical assistance and classroom support for agencies who serve preschool children. She has been a teacher of Spanish, a teacher assistant, teacher and director in early childhood centers, a Head Start education supervisor, a professional development specialist for the Head Start Bureau’s Training and Technical Assistance System as well as an instructor at Michigan State University. |

Christy Thompson
|
 |
Christy holds a doctorate in communication disorders. She has taught at two universities and was a Fulbright Scholar to Honduras and was an International Kellogg’s Fellow. She has trained parents and preschool teachers in Honduras, Bolivia, and the U.S and has taught graduate courses and presented nationally on multicultural aspects and second language acquisition. |

Hector J. Campos

Hector is the founder and CEO of Campos Training and Consulting Group. He is a bilingual organizational and employee development professional with 20 years of experience in training, coaching and evaluation. He has written curricula and training guides for the Head Start Bureau, the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association and Farm Worker Health Services Inc. He designs and facilitates trainings on family/community partnerships, father involvement, early childhood development and cultural diversity. |

Jennifer Larkin

Jennifer Larkin is a trainer and community educator with a background in health and curriculum development. For 18 years, she has worked in predominantly Latino communities in California and Arizona. As a health educator, Jennifer provided over 100 workshops to Head Start parents in the Bay Area. She is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and learned Spanish while serving with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. |

Julia Smith

As a doctoral student in Child Development at Michigan State University, Julia's focus is Head Start and bilingual/bicultural children. Her experience with Michigan Migrant Head Start comes from four years working with the program. Spanish is Julia's second language; she spent five years living in Mexico. |

Kathryn Bell

 |
Working within Head Start for the last 18 years, Kathryn is currently the assistant project coordinator for the Touchpoints™ Project at Utah State University. Interacting with a variety of cultures – using both English and Spanish – her prior experience includes Head Start family service manager and a resource specialist/trainer for the Region VIII Head Start Quality Improvement Center, the QUILT Project, and the National Center for Family Literacy. |

Lucía Vicencio

Lucía is originally from Chile and lives in Hallandale
Beach, FL. She has been a prominent educator and advocate for
high quality child and family care services in South Florida for
over 20 years. Lucia has successfully worked with diverse cultural
groups and grassroots organizations, supporting, mentoring and
collaborating with a myriad of community efforts to improve the
lives of children and their families. |

Marta Inés González-Taborga

Marta has more than 30 years working in early
childhood education. She has extensive experience in assisting
the professional development of caregivers working in Early/Head
Start programs. She feels proud to be part of HELLP. She believes
that HELLP's success will improve the early childhood education
world, especially the ELL world. |

Marvin Ali
|
 |
Marvin has completed graduate and post-graduate degrees in the fields of mental health, psychology and organizational management. He has specialized in mental health and family evaluations, assessments and treatment. With his private practice he has worked with universities, providing field supervision for graduate-level interns and projects for minorities. He has experience working with multi-ethnic and cultural groups including advocacy, program development, grant acquisitions and leadership for this population. He is excited to be part of HELLP and to assist grantees in developing needed language programs. |

Patricia A. Hillman

Patricia lives in Austin, TX, and has over 30 years experience with Early Childhood Education. She is a former HSQIC, ECD Specialist and Supervisor for Region IX on the west coast. Currently she provides T/TA to HS Programs, USAF Child Development Services, conducts federal reviews, is a CDA Advisor and Trainer, NAEYC Validator and a learning coach with the Hilton EHS Training Program serving children with disabilities. |
